Returning to our regularly scheduled program.

January 2, 2012

I disappeared for a while, I know. I’m not the best consistent blogger there is apparently. Life keeps getting in the way, but I’m not complaining.

Bryan came home in mid-November, in time for Thanksgiving. He’s was on leave for 15 days and has been on half-days ever since. Tomorrow he goes back to his regular working schedule, which means more alone time for me… which translates to more blogging time, more Twitter time, and more time to clean the house.

The kids have been on school vacation since December 19. The older two go back tomorrow and the youngest goes back on Wednesday. I can’t wait. I love my kids…. But I need a break!!!

There’s not a whole lot new around here. Thanksgiving was great, Christmas was great.

The older kids have not heard from sperm donor since he called in October to talk to them and say he’s visiting in November. Obviously he never visited… Still hasn’t called, and they did not hear from him for Christmas, no phone call and not even a damn card. Nothing.

I’ve had about as much as I can take from him, so I printed out all court forms I think I needed and filed them with the court. I am asking for sole custody. Right now we share joint custody. I used to have sole custody but to get the sperm donor’s permission to leave the state when Bryan joined the Army three years ago, I had to agree to joint custody. What’s the point? Nothing’s changed, he still doesn’t give a shit.

I hope a judge grants my request, I think I’ve earned it…

I start my advanced web page design classes on January 12th. My ultimate goal is an Associate Degree in computer programming. I’ll get there, and I am so excited. These advanced classes I’m about to start should be easy for me, as I already know and practice quite a bit. I just feel like I need to make it official… Maybe then people will take me more seriously and I don’t know… Actually hire me…

Not that I don’t love constant updates for Central Elements, I do, and the owner has regularly given me work since 2005… But it’s not enough work, I need more, my family needs more. Hopefully this degree will help with that.

I’ve also started a new blog. Well, working on a new blog anyway. Only because I got a free registration when I renewed hosting for this blog, and I do love free, so I figured why not?? And registered a domain. We’ll see how that goes I guess.

I hope that you all had a wonderful New Year!!

Oh! One last thing… I have heard that Google will no longer deliver blog updates via Friend Connect (see the follower widget in the sidebar). If you follow me via Friend Connect, and you would still like regular updates, you should subscribe via email or add my blog to your RSS reader.

(((((Penny))))))) I enjoy reading your blog. As for the “SD”, you need to do what you need to do. I think that you have proven (I mean to the courts, not to anyone else) that you are a capable mother, who puts her children first. I see no reason why you cannot have full custody. It makes me sad for the “SD” because I know he is going to regret not being a part of his children’s lives. Has Bryan thought about adopting them? I think it would be wonderful! :0) Once again, do what you need to do for the kids and for your family. Love you!! :o )

Thanks Lesley. We have talked about it, quite a bit actually, but neither one of us really knows how to bring it up to Gillian. Obviously she would have a say because she’s older now. We don’t think she’ll go for it, and we’re just not sure how to bring it up to her. We also have discussed just asking a judge to terminate his rights, leaving me as the only legal guardian, but I said that if we did that I would not answer phone calls from the SD, I would not send him photos or updates anymore or anything and Bryan thinks that is unfair of me… in either situation. He’s a bigger person than I am, I think. It drives me crazy sometimes.

And now I saw that YouTube video where G is counting pennies for this kid’s college education and all I can think is what about Gillian and Matthew? What about money for them? What about a phone call for them? If you have time to sit at a table and count hundreds of pennies how can you not have the time to pick up the phone?
