I wonder who it was that thought: “To celebrate our freedom and independence we should totally set off fireworks.”
And if Independence Day is big on fireworks then shouldn’t fireworks be legal, everywhere, at least on this one day? We can’t even set them off here on post. I wonder why that is, exactly?
And I wonder who decided what colors the American Flag would be? Was their an argument over it? How long did it take to choose those three colors, which now signify America and all that it stands for.
I just don’t understand why they choose those colors? We all know what the stars and stripes represent, but did you know that there is no legally defined symbolism to the colors on the flag?

Seriously. I guess I can see where they came up with blue… blue skies, blue oceans, lakes and rivers. But red!? Where did that come from?? I’m not saying it’s bad and I’m not saying I disagree with their choices… I just wonder about it.
What do you wonder about the 4th of July?
i would think red would be for all the blood that was slain to keep America the way it is…
now white..I would say that was for God…
but i don’t know..i wonder too!

I’m pretty sure the fireworks symbolize how the sky was lit up during the battle for independence. All the bombs and rockets and gun fire. I think…
And here’s something I just found on the colors:
“The colors of the pales (the vertical stripes) are those used in the flag of the United States of America; White signifies purity and innocence, Red, hardiness & valour, and Blue, the color of the Chief (the broad band above the stripes) signifies vigilance, perseverance & justice.”
Also this from a book about the flag published in 1977 by the House of Representatives…
“The star is a symbol of the heavens and the divine goal to which man has aspired from time immemorial; the stripe is symbolic of the rays of light emanating from the sun.”

I should ask Gillian what she was told at school. She’s on the flag team.
